o Miles 058 - 061 (Rainbow dam to River Rd bridge) Mostly flat water
with good current, go through Class I Rainbow Rapids
o Miles 061 - 069 (River Rd bridge to McNaughton bridge) Floodplain
broadens and river slows a few miles upstream from McNaughton
o Miles 069 - 076 (McNaughton bridge to River Rd landing) River
winds through lowlands including wild rice marshes
o Miles 076 - 080 (River Rd landing to Rhinelander dam) Enter into
upper sections of Rhinelander Flowage where wind and boat traffic
can be challenging

o Mile 080 Rhinelander dam - Access to the shorter portage route
(about 1/3 mile) is gated but typically open during normal business
hours (call 715-369-4241 ahead for access anytime) OR about a mile
long route goes along city streets (take-out on left, put-in on
right)
- Landings suitable for take-out or put-in
o Mile 059 WDNR County D boat landing provides access just below
the Rainbow dam side with parking available (right)
o Mile 061 River Rd bridge canoe launch downstream of the bridge
with parking available (left)
o Mile 069 Boat landing at McNaughton downstream of bridges with
parking available (right)
o Mile 076 Boat landing off River Rd some parking available (left)
o Mile 080 Boat landing at Hodag Park on Boom Lake (left)
