Wisconsin Valley Improvement Company Scholarship 2026

Wisconsin Valley Improvement Company (WVIC) is proud to offer financial assistance to students within its operating area as they pursue higher education opportunities. WVIC recognizes the Wisconsin River and the WVIC reservoir system are vital natural resources and embraces a stewardship role on behalf of all beneficiaries. This includes water conservation, flood control, low-flow augmentation, hydroelectric generation, water quality, wildlife, and recreation, as well as recognizing the importance of promoting higher education in the Central & Upper Wisconsin River Basins.


Qualifications

Be a high school graduate or upcoming 2026 graduate, age 24 or under, enrolling in full-time undergraduate study in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school. Applicants must have attended a high school whose district boundary encompasses one of WVIC’s 21 reservoirs located within the Central and Upper Wisconsin River Basins.  


Award

• Number of Scholarships: One (non-renewable)

• Amount: $1,500.00

• Open for Application: January 2, 2026

• Application Deadline: April 15, 2026

• Notification of Award: May 1, 2026


How to Apply

Applicants must complete the WVIC Scholarship Form and submit the required materials as defined below.

Submit a current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades, and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.


Selection Procedure

The WVIC Scholarship Committee will make the selection. The scholarship recipient will be selected based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational and career goals and objectives, and the completion of the WVIC Scholarship Form.

Scholarship Administration

Scholarship funds will be awarded in the form of a check payable to the postsecondary institution the recipient will be attending, after proof of enrollment is provided to WVIC from the institution. If the recipient does not enroll in a postsecondary institution within 9 months of the scholarship award date, the funds will be awarded to an alternate candidate.
